Goodbye

Seven years passed: he packed boxes and loaded the moving truck. He left the bookcase for last, separating some to keep, some to leave in the neighborhood free library. On the bottom shelf were two books with the LA Public Library logo collecting dust. The final task handed to him. He rode with the windows down and the music up, taking the books to the drop-off box outside the gates.
